Door Insect Screens
Door insect screens are a useful addition to any home, office, or food preparation area. They allow the fresh air in to circulate, and keep flying insects such as mosquitoes, flies, wasps and midges outdoors where they belong. Door screens do not block out the light or reduce visibility, and allow doors to be opened and closed easily.
Fine polyester mesh door fly screen keeps out mosquitoes, flies, midges, moths and other flying insects. Allows fresh air in to circulate. Fits hinged doors sized up to 1.5m x 2.1m. Easy to fit. Fix with velcro fixing tape.
Door insect screens are suitable for all types of doors, including standard front and back doors, double doors, patio doors and French doors. They can be made to match doorframes and surrounding décor, so they look elegant and unobtrusive.
Door Screens
Door screens are often used for commercial purposes in restaurants and kitchen areas to comply with health and safety regulations. Food outlets can ensure their customers dine in comfort and free from bothersome bugs.
Here are some popular styles of door insect screens:
- Hinged insect screen – Insect mesh fitted is fitted inside an aluminium frame. Attach the insect screen frame to the doorframe and open it just like a normal door. Hinged insect door screens are made for standard front and back doors as well as double opening hinged entry doors (French doors).
- Patio door screen – Insect mesh sits inside an aluminium frame, which slides along upper and lower tracks. Slide the patio door screen across to one side, open the patio door and slide the screen back across. Double sliding or even triple sliding patio door screens can slide past each other to screen larger openings.
- Retractable fly screen – Works just like a roller blind. Insect mesh rolled up inside a spring-loaded cassette holder pulls across horizontally to protect the door opening. Open the door, pull the retractable fly screen across and secure closed. On release, the screen retracts back into the cassette and you can close the door. Retractable fly screens are suitable for single and double doors.
- Insect curtain screen – Mesh panels are suspended from a bar attached to the top of the doorway to form a curtain. Weights are sewn into the bottom of the mesh panels to hold the curtain in place. Insect curtain screens allow people and pets to easily walk through and are ideal for doorways where a conventional screen door is unsuitable.
- Door strip blind – Durable, wipe-clean plastic strips hang down from the top of the doorframe. Door strip blinds are easy for people and pets to walk through and are available in a variety of colours for standard doors.
- Metal chain curtain – If it is not practical to fit a hinged screen door, such as when people will be passing through the doorway regularly, a metal chain curtain is a good alternative. Anodised (to prevent rust) aluminium links are suspended to a rail at top of the doorway to keep flies out. Different sizes and coloured links are available - different designs can even be featured in the screen such as flags and logos. Metal chain curtains are also useful as room dividers and are often used in the food industry.
- PVC bug screen – Strips of PVC hang down across large doorways and are ideal for warehouses, factories and food preparation premises. PVC bug screens stop insects from getting inside, minimise heat loss and help keep areas cool, while still allowing people to walk through. Heavy-duty PVC strips can tolerate forklifts and other means of industrial transportation passing through.
